BARCELONA.

Basilica and River

This past week we visited the INCREDIBLE city of Barcelona..and I have officially decided when I return to Spain I will live there forever. Anyways, everything about this trip was awesome.

We stopped in the town of Zaragoza at the halfway point, and visited a little Goya Museum and thCatedral-Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar where there is a small pillar believed to be delivered by Mary herself. And people come from all over to touch/kiss it.

"Artistic Intervention" (Lobster) - Mariscal
AND then we got to Barcelona. Our hotel was pretty ghetto, to the point of where I wouldn't take my shoes off while inside and washed out the shower before actually getting in. That night we went out and got some amazing gelato sculpted into flowers, ate some Italian food [of course], and checked out the pier. Oh yeah I found this artist I am completely in love with and did a project on, and saw a TON of his projects all over the city and was completely freaking out. Here's a picture Kristie snagged of some random lobster sculpture he made. Cute huh.

The next day was sooo busy. We started off with Park Guell by Gaudi(only my favorite artist/architect of all time ever in the history of the world), where everything looks almost candy-land like from the serpent benches to catacomb walkways. Oh gosh I just love it all. Then we RAN, literally ran, back to our crappy hotel and grabbed our stuff to move to a much nicer one (: Next was La Sagrada Familia. Yeah life dream fulfilled, visiting this baby. Even got to peek in and see where Gaudi is buried.

After this we were all completely exhausted but visited the Picasso Museum and saw a bunch of his work. Later that night I decided to venture out on my own to figure out what was wrong with my film.. it was so much fun just wandering around the city at night. But better when I made Janeen walk back with me once it was late and really dark.

Girls at Casa Mila!
Next day I can't even explain...it was just overwhelming. Started by seeing Casa Batllo and Casa Mila (La Pedrera) by Gaudi. Even toured Casa Mila and bought some postcards. Then we saw the Cathedral of Barcelona and toured the Gothic district, toured the Boqueria (outdoor market) which was incredible, and headed to the beach! The weather was perfect and although the water was basically freezing I can say I've been in the Mediterranean sea ... up to my knees at least.

Then we went out for amazing Thai food for dinner and I frantically ran across town to pick up an important gift. Luckily we chased down a nice [looking] Australian man who had a map and he helped us find our way (: And we may or may not have gone clubbing much later that night. It was seriously the best time ever.
just me. freaking loving life.

oh yeah EVERY Sunday practically Juana makes us Paella and it is just the best. And I finally got a picture of it. I swear Jessi and I will learn how to make this and it will blow everyone away. If only I had any clue how to cook lil octopuses and calamari. Or whatever else meat is in it. Or rice.
